Ask a client for photo ID

Wavrr can ask a client to upload a photo of their government ID as part of signing. It is off by default, and there are good reasons to leave it off unless you need it.

Switch it on

Open the waiver template you want it on, and enable ID document photo in the optional fields. It then appears on every waiver created from that template.

What the client sees

The form shows Upload ID / Passport / Driver License with a file picker. On a phone this opens the camera, so most clients photograph their ID on the spot rather than digging out a saved file.

The upload only unlocks once name, email, phone and date of birth are filled in — the form says so — because the photo has to attach to an identified client.

Why you might want it

The usual reasons are age verification where your local rules require documented proof, and having something on file if a client later disputes that they were the person who signed.

If an upload fails

The form gives the client a specific reason, and most are self-explanatory — file too large, wrong format, connection dropped. Two are worth recognising:

• "This signing link has expired" — the link or its template was retired. Send a new link.
• "This waiver is already signed" — they are reopening a finished waiver. Start a new one if you genuinely need another photo.

In every case the client can tap Try again without starting the form over.

Where the photo ends up

It attaches to the waiver record and is available with that client's consent history under Customers. It is covered by the same storage and access rules as the rest of your client data — see Where Wavrr stores your data.
