Upload photo ID from your phone

Photograph a client's ID in the app, and what the app does to the file before it uploads.

If your template asks for an ID document, the app lets you take the photo or pick one from your library. It is off unless you enable it on the template — see Ask a client for photo ID.

Add the photo

  1. Reach the ID step while completing a waiver.
  2. Take a photo of the client's ID, or pick an existing one from your library.
  3. Wait for the upload to confirm, then carry on with the waiver.

The upload only unlocks once name, email, phone and date of birth are filled in, because the photo has to attach to an identified client.

The app fixes the file for you

This is the part worth knowing, because it is why phone photos "just work" here:

  • HEIC is fine. iPhones shoot HEIC by default and the upload API does not accept it. The app re-encodes to JPEG before uploading, so you never have to change your camera settings.
  • Large photos are fine. A full-resolution phone photo routinely exceeds the 5 MB server limit. The app downscales anything over 2000px on its longest edge and re-compresses it, so a 12 MP photo becomes a file that uploads on studio wifi.

The result is still perfectly legible for identification. You do not need to zoom out, crop, or email yourself a smaller copy.

If the upload fails

The app tells you why, and you can retry without starting the waiver over. The usual causes are a dropped connection, or a signing link that has expired because its template was retired.

Before you turn this on

Where it ends up

The photo attaches to that waiver and appears with the client's consent history under Customers, on both the app and the dashboard. It is covered by the same EU-hosted storage and access rules as the rest of your client data.
